Wolfelt Authors New Book, Celebrates Center For Loss’ 40th Anniversary

Grief educator Alan Wolfelt, Ph.D., has written a new book, Creating Your Grief Plan: The Power of Understanding and Befriending the Six Universal Needs of Mourning. The book is available in softcover and e-book formats through Companion Press and in bookstores.

The book describes the six universal needs of mourning and their role in the movement toward reconciling loss. Although these six needs are painful and difficult, their power is that they’re also transformative over time. Awareness of these needs will help readers take a participative, action-oriented approach to healing in grief rather than a passive one. This book will empower readers to make a plan to convert their grief into active, authentic mourning.

In other news, the Center for Loss and Life Transition is celebrating 40 years of “helping people help others.” Since its founding by Wolfelt in 1985, the Center for Loss and Life Transition has provided grief education to caregivers and counselors, offered workshops for the bereaved across North America, and published books and resources for those experiencing grief.

“It has been an honor to support many grieving children, teens, adults and families over the last 40 years,” said Wolfelt. “It has also been a privilege to work with sponsors throughout North America and the world to bring grief-informed education to hundreds of communities.” CenterForLoss.com
