Larkin Mortuary Names New President

Larkin Mortuary (Salt Lake City) recently named Robert S. “Rob” Larkin Jr. president. He succeeds Lance C. Larkin, who will continue serving as the mortuary’s chairman of the board.

In his new role, Rob Larkin will oversee more than 200 employees and be responsible for the vision and strategic direction of the company’s four funeral homes; two cemeteries; crematory; floral shop; monument, urn and vault manufacturing facilities; and reception and luncheon facilities.

A fifth-generation funeral director, Larkin received an associate’s degree in accounting from LDS Business College and a mortuary science degree from Cypress Junior College. In 2012, he received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Western Governors University. A Utah-licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1988, he also became a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner in 2014 and Certified Crematory Operator in 2015.

Previously, Larkin served as the 2015-16 president of the Utah Funeral Directors Association. Currently, he is a member of the advisory committee for Salt Lake Community College’s mortuary science program, and he serves the Tracy Aviary on its facilities committee.
