Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks & Mortuaries Holds Multi-Location Memorial Day Remembrances

On May 26, Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks & Mortuaries (Glendale) honored fallen military veterans by holding free Memorial Day remembrances at each of its six locations: Cathedral City, Covina Hills, Cypress, Glendale, Hollywood Hills and Long Beach. Each family-friendly, parkwide remembrance brought numerous generations together to commemorate the lives and valor of U.S. military veterans.

The Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills commemoration was the highlighted event and featured keynote speaker Brig. Gen. David Smith; the resonant voice and presence of emcee Michael Ellington; an invocation and benediction by Monsignor Frank Hicks; a presidential proclamation by Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton; music by the Los Angeles Concert Band; and family-friendly activities.

The Forest Lawn-Glendale celebration included the Glendale Sunrise Rotary Club’s Field of Honor American flag dedication. The event started May 21, and culminated with a stage event on May 26. U.S. flags were available for a $50 sponsorship fee; proceeds benefited local veterans.

All other locations’ events featured similar music, ceremonies, keynote addresses, and free giveaways and activities.

Since 1915, Forest Lawn’s rolling hills and panoramic views have set the stage for Memorial Day remembrances that inspire thoughtful reverence for the brave members of the U.S. military. forestlawn.com
