Be Aware of Scammers

Improper solicitation of hotel reservations from any company other than Maritz is not approved. Reservations made by unaffiliated organizations may appear to have lower rates, however they may be illegitimate, not have the rooms to sell, have unreasonable cancellation or change penalties, or be completely non-refundable. Please be aware of, and report any unauthorized solicitation.
 
Please remember: NFDA’s official housing information will only be communicated directly through NFDA channels.
 
NFDA has been alerted in past years to emails and phone calls from companies claiming to offer discounted hotel rooms for the Convention. These solicitations may appear legitimate, but they are not affiliated with NFDA.
 
Scammers may falsely imply they are working with NFDA or the Convention hotel. In some cases, they may pressure you to book immediately, request payment upfront or offer rates that seem too good to be true. Unfortunately, reservations made through unauthorized companies may not be valid.

Attendees have reported discovering that:
• The company never actually secured the room reservation
• Hidden fees or excessive cancellation penalties were applied
• Reservations were nonrefundable or difficult to change
• The company disappeared after payment was made
 
To protect yourself and your organization:
• Book hotel rooms only through Maritz, the official NFDA housing provider
• Be cautious of unsolicited emails or phone calls regarding Convention hotels
• Do not provide credit card information to unknown companies
• Verify information directly through NFDA if something seems suspicious
 
When in doubt, contact NFDA directly before making reservations or providing payment information.
