When thousands of funeral service professionals come together for the NFDA Convention, we have an opportunity to make a difference that extends well beyond the convention center.

During the 2026 NFDA International Convention & Expo, attendees can stop by the Community Impact Zone Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. to take part in hands-on service projects benefiting organizations in the Charlotte community. No special skills or advance planning are needed – just stop by, lend a hand and spend a few minutes helping others.

One project will support Veterans Bridge Home, a Charlotte-based nonprofit that connects veterans and their families with the resources and support they need to successfully transition and thrive in civilian life. In partnership with the Funeral Service Foundation, convention attendees will assemble kits that will be distributed through the organization.

Animal lovers can also get involved by making fleece blankets to provide warmth and comfort to animals awaiting adoption. Completed blankets will benefit local animal welfare organizations, including Humane Society of Charlotte and/or Halfway There Rescue. It’s a simple project that can make an unfamiliar shelter or foster environment a little more comfortable for an animal waiting for its “furever” home.

NFDA will also support the Charlotte Regional Fire Foundation in conjunction with this year’s Service of Remembrance. Attendees will have opportunities to make cash donations on-site or scan a QR code to donate directly to the foundation.

Community service reflects something funeral professionals demonstrate every day: a commitment to caring for people and strengthening the places they call home. The Community Impact Zone gives us a chance to bring that spirit of service to Charlotte and say “thank you” to our host community in a meaningful way.
