ASD Founders Launch Cremation Air, Aerial Scattering Service

The Czachor family, which founded ASD-Answering Service for Directors, recently launched an aviation-based venture: Cremation Air. Designed exclusively for funeral homes, this professional aerial service provides meaningful ocean and waterway scatterings of cremated remains. Scatterings are completed by certified commercial pilot Andrew Czachor, son of ASD owner Marty Czachor.

For more than five decades, ASD has helped funeral directors support families with compassion and dependability. As cremation rates continued to rise nationwide, the Czachors saw an opportunity to expand their commitment to the profession by offering a dignified aviation solution that
meets the growing demand for personalized scatterings.

The concept for Cremation Air grew from the family’s shared passion for aviation and funeral service. Marty Czachor’s interest in flying evolved into a family pursuit. Both Andrew and Jess Czachor went on to earn pilot licenses. Over time, they were inspired to create of a service that blends technical precision with heartfelt purpose.

Cremation Air was intentionally built as a partner to funeral directors, not as a consumer competitor. Through the secure “C-Air Process” – centered around clarity, assurance, integrity and respect – funeral directors can submit orders, track each step in the chain of custody and receive full documentation. After scatterings, funeral directors receive a personalized video tribute and certificate that includes the date, time and GPS coordinates to present to loved ones.

Each scattering is performed aboard a Beechcraft Bonanza G-36, outfitted with GPS tracking, three high-def video cameras and a custom carbon-
fiber scattering chute. To ensure cremated remains are handled and dispersed with professionalism and accountability, operations follow strict Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, as well as U.S. Postal Service and Environmental Protection Agency requirements. Only trained crew members are permitted on board.

The company made its official debut at the 2025 NFDA International Convention & Expo. Currently operating in Pennsylvania and Florida, Cremation Air focuses on ocean, gulf and Great Lakes scatterings. Plans to expand to the Pacific Coast are underway. CremationAir.com
