On November 5, 2025, National Mortuary Shipping and Cremation (NMS) employees Kahlen Knapik and Mallory Berwald spoke at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) in Cleveland, Ohio. A Tri-C course was exploring the psychology of grief, as well as American and cross-cultural funeral traditions, so Knapik and Berwald were asked to speak about the funeral service industry.
Said Knapik, NMS vice president and AIC funeral director and embalmer: “This was very exciting and a great experience to talk to students outside the mortuary field about the importance of our industry, dispel any misconceptions and help students understand how our industry helps others through the grieving process. It reminded me a lot of my days at [Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science] and was a lot of fun.”
Stated Berwald, NMS business development and shipping specialist: “I am grateful for opportunities such as this to educate and highlight the heart behind what we do. I truly love my career and am honored to help others see that side of the profession that means everything to me.” NatlMortuaryShipping.com
