For Immediate Release: April 11, 2014
Brookfield, Wis. – Those who attend the National Funeral Directors Association's (NFDA) 2014 International Convention & Expo, which will be held October 12-15 at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tenn., can round out their event experience by connecting with colleagues during exclusive social and networking events. The exclusive events for Convention attendees will give them a taste of Nashville's legendary live music, burgeoning restaurant scene and unique culture.
Since 2008, NFDA Convention attendees have given back to their host city by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Once again, volunteers will gather on Saturday, October 11, to help build a home for a family in need. There are three easy ways to support NFDA's Habitat project: volunteer at the build site, make a donation to Habitat for Humanity in Nashville or become a sponsor.
The 2014 Funeral Service Foundation Golf Classic will take place on Sunday, October 12, at the Gaylord Springs® Golf Links. Carved from the banks of the Cumberland River, Gaylord Springs was named one of Tennessee's top public courses by GolfWeekmagazine. Designed by former U.S. Open and PGA champion Larry Nelson, the Scottish links-style, par 72 layout offers 18 challenging holes bordered by scenic limestone bluffs. The Golf Classic supports the Funeral Service Foundation's mission to fund projects and programs that support all of funeral service in building meaningful relationships in the community.
NFDA President Robby Bates and his wife Betty Bates invite you to join them on Sunday, October 12 for the Welcome Party at the legendary Wildhorse Saloon. Some of the best bands in Nashville got their start at the Wildhorse Saloon. Explore all three levels of this historic warehouse turned restaurant and live music venue. Whether attendees are in the mood for a friendly game of billiards in the state-of-the-art Wildhorse Billiards room or want to experience Nashville's outstanding live music, the Wildhorse Saloon offers attendees a great place to kick off their NFDA Convention experience. There is no charge for this event, but attendees must pick up an event ticket when they check in at the Convention registration desk.
Celebrate your fellow funeral directors who have achieved more this year at the All-Star Recognition Ceremony on Monday, October 13. Join fellow Convention attendees as NFDA recognizes funeral professionals who are NFDA Certified Crematory Operators, NFDA Certified Preplanning Consultants and APFSP Certified Funeral Service Practitioners. NFDA will also recognize funeral homes that are 2014 NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Award recipients – including Best of the Best Award Recipients and 2014 Hall of Excellence Inductees – and NFDA Green Funeral Practice Certificate holders.
Music plays an important part in our lives. It is used to mark special events, set the stage for celebrations, provide comfort and help sustain one's faith during difficult times. The beautiful sounds of Nashville music provide the perfect setting for the 2014 NFDA Service of Remembrance on Tuesday, October 14. This year's service will include a special appearance by country music star Vince Gill, who will perform his hit song "Go Rest High on that Mountain." Join fellow attendees as NFDA honors the memory of funeral service friends and colleagues who have died.
With five venues under one roof, those who attend the Funeral Directors Under 40 Party on Tuesday, October 14 at Tequila Cowboy Bar & Grill, should have no trouble having fun. Join fellow under-40s in the upper level for appetizers, jam with the evening's featured live band in the Rock Bar, show off your dance moves in the Karma Lounge dance club, belt out your favorite tune at WannaB's Karaoke Bar, or hang out and shoot some pool in the game room. Adventurous souls can take a ride on the only mechanical bull on Broadway. (Ticket required and includes two drink tickets, light appetizers and rides on the mechanical bull.)
2014 NFDA President Rob Moore and his wife Pat Moore invite attendees to celebrate the conclusion of the NFDA Convention at A Hall of Fame Evening: Celebrate with the Stars the evening of Wednesday, October 15. An amazing cocktail reception awaits you at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum. Join colleagues for hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and live music entertainment before your last night out on the town. Tickets to this star-studded event also include exclusive access to all that the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has to offer. The facility will be closed to the public, enabling attendees to explore the rich history of country music through an immense collection of recordings, video clips and special exhibits that span two centuries.
