The House was the only chamber in session last week before spring recess. When they come back from their break, they will only have four days to bridge the wide gaps within the Republican conference on a trillion-dollar spending blueprint. An agreement has remained elusive for months and GOP lawmakers are not giving up on their own proposals. The last time the chamber failed to pass a budget was 2010 and it looks like it may happen again this year.
The tragic news of the terrorist attack in Brussels comes as Europe is increasingly under attack by ISIS. House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) stated that the attacks appeared to target Americans in Brussels. He based that information off the location of the two bombings, next to the stands for American companies United, American and Delta at Brussels' Zaventem Airport and at a downtown metro station less than a mile from the U.S. Embassy. Nunes cautioned that this is his own conclusion, not one from U.S. intelligence agencies.
The Senate was not in session last week; both chambers will be out of session this week.
