Last year, NFDA hosted the RememberingALife.com Film Contest in which we invited amateur and professional filmmakers from around the world to create films that convey the importance and power of memorializing lives. These films are available for you to use on your funeral home’s Facebook page and website, and in your community to help families understand that every life is worth commemorating – whether in a film or during a meaningful service.
The first, second and third place films from the film contest, which were announced during the 2018 NFDA International Convention & Expo, were selected for their ability to inspire others to remember the lives of their loved ones.
If you’ve been watching the NFDA and RememberingALife.com Facebook pages, you may have seen us sharing the winning films! Click here to view the films.
We encourage you to visit the RememebringALife.com Facebook page and share the films on your funeral home’s Facebook page.
The film are also available for you to use on your funeral home’s website. We have information on the NFDA website to help you or your website provider embed them on your firm’s website.
NFDA also has other helpful suggestions on how you might use the films, such as by sharing them with families to illustrate the value of commemorating the life of a loved one. We have a community event guide with suggestions on how you might host a screening of the films and discussion about storytelling and memorialization.
Some families may have an interest in paying tribute to their loved one in a film. This may be true especially for preneed families that have time to prepare a film.
NFDA has developed “Legacy Filmmaking: A Step-By-Step Guide” to help families create a moving film that can be shown at a funeral or memorial service and cherished for generations to come.
