NFDA is seeking candidates for a one-year term of service as an at-large representative to the NFDA Board of Directors. The successful candidate will complete the second year of an unexpired two-year term of service resulting from the recent resignation of At-large Representative Peter B. “Butch” Mulhearn Jr. The successful candidate’s one-year term of service will begin at the conclusion of the 2017 NFDA International Convention & Expo and conclude at the end of the 2018 convention,
The NFDA Board of Directors is composed of nine members: president, president-elect, treasurer, secretary, immediate past president and four at-large representatives.
The president-elect, treasurer and secretary are elected each year for a one-year term of service by plurality vote of NFDA firm and individual members. The president-elect, after completing his or her term, automatically succeeds to the office of the president.
Two at-large representatives are elected every year, each for a two-year term of service, so that the terms of the four at-large representatives are staggered. At-large representatives are elected by majority vote of the NFDA Policy Board.
When an at-large representative position becomes vacant, the NFDA Bylaws provide for a special election at the next NFDA Policy Board meeting to fill the unexpired term. Accordingly, the NFDA Policy Board will elect a new at-large representative, for a one-year term of service, at the October 28, 2017 Policy Board meeting, scheduled in conjunction with the NFDA 2017 International Convention & Expo in Boston.
If you are interested in becoming a candidate, NFDA urges you to review the election information and submit the online application by 5 p.m. CT on August 31, 2017, to be considered by the NFDA Leadership Development Committee for this open position.
As with all regular NFDA elections, the Leadership Development Committee will consider all NFDA member applications submitted. The committee will announce the list of qualified candidates by October 1, 2017.
