FIAT-IFTA, the United Nations of funeral service, is launching an International Funeral Exchange Program, designed to help mortuary science students and funeral professionals experience what it’s like to work in a country other than their own and learn about customs and traditions around the world. As FIAT-IFTA’s representative organization from the United States, NFDA is looking for funeral homes willing to host a funeral student or professional from another country.
Hosts would welcome an English speaking colleague who has been screened and approved by FIAT-IFTA. The visit would last for a period of three weeks in October 2017. There is no cost to you to serve as a host and you are not required to provide housing. FIAT-IFTA does, however, ask your help in locating suitable housing for your guest.
During the three-week visit, your guest would shadow you as you go about your work and, based on their skills and what is permissible by law, assist you in your duties. During their visit, you and your staff will also have an opportunity to learn about the funeral customs and traditions of your guest’s home country.
NFDA members who are interested in learning more about the Funeral Service Exchange Program can find more information on the FIAT-IFTA website.
If you have any questions about program or are interested in serving as a host, please contact NFDA Senior Vice President of Member Relations Anna Bernfeld at firstname.lastname@example.org.
