IFDA Showcases Funeral Directors at Senior Wellness Expos
Being an advocate for your profession isn't just something you can do once every year during the Advocacy Summit. There are opportunities to connect with members of Congress throughout the year, like this recent example from the Iowa Funeral Directors Association (IFDA).
Two of Iowa’s Congressmen, Reps. David Young ad Rod Blum, held Senior Wellness Expos in mid-July and IFDA represented funeral directors at four events. IFDA officials met with nearly 400 Iowans and distributed hundreds of brochures on working with funeral directors, Have the Talk of a Lifetime, Medicaid and funerals, and organ & tissue donation and the funeral.
These expos were three unique and valuable opportunities to meet with and answer questions of seniors regarding preneed, grief and aftercare, cremation as a form of disposition and not in place of a funeral, and many other issues. With every opportunity, IFDA Executive Director, Suzanne M. Gebel, told the attendees to contact their local funeral director with specific questions.
IFDA has plans to attend additional Congressional Expos this summer that are being offered for seniors and veterans.
