About the Presenters
Mark Evely is a licensed funeral director, embalmer and attorney and is the director of the Mortuary Science Program at Wayne State University. Mark has worked in funeral service continuously since 1999 and his law practice includes advising funeral homes on risk mitigation and regulatory compliance. Mark also serves in various capacities for the Michigan Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association and the American Board of Funeral Service Education.
Tanya Marsh is a Professor of Law at Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A graduate of Indiana University and Harvard Law School, Marsh is the author of books including The Law of Human Remains, the first treatise on the subject in 70 years, and the co-author of Cemetery Law: The Common Law of Burying Grounds in the United States. At Wake Forest, she teaches courses in property, commercial real estate and decedents’ estates, as well as the only course at the U.S. law school in funeral and cemetery law.
