The Certified Preplanning Consultant program establishes national standards for preneed consultants

Certification for preplanning consultants has been a growing importance for consumers considering preneed and for professionals wishing to enhance their credentials. Since 1996, nearly 200 qualified preneed consultants have received certification as Certified Preplanning Consultants (CPC). Almost 50 percent of them are funeral directors. A Standard of Excellence—The Certified Preplanning Consultant program establishes national standards for preneed consultants provides background information and an update on the Funeral Service Educational Foundation's (FSEF) Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC) program. In addition to its central certification purpose, the program provides high-quality continuing education and increases consumer confidence. It also fosters communication among all parties authorized by individual states to sell preneed and establishes national standards for advance funeral planners.
