Ethics 101

Why should funeral service students learn ethical principles?

Written by John Kroshus

All accredited mortuary schools are required to teach course content in the area of ethics. This is not surprising considering how ethics is such an integral part of the funeral service profession. Ethics 101—Why should funeral service students learn ethical principles?, by John Kroshus, an assistant professor and director of the mortuary science program at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, discusses how ethics is being taught in mortuary school and how it is benefitting students. Kroshus has been active in funeral service for more than 20 years both as a practicing funeral director and as a funeral service educator.
