Hands Up!
Critical new study on handwashing released
On October 25, 2002, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) released its literature review and accompanying recommendations regarding hand hygiene as it relates to infection control in your workplace. We recommend that you use this new data as a special in-house training section for your staff. In Hands Up!, written by Meredyth P. Partridge, this important information can significantly reduce risks of contamination for employees and significantly enhance the infection-control measures already in place at your facility. These days, we simply cannot be too cautious!
Partridge is president of Regulatory Support Services, Inc., and is the former executive director of the Virginia Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers and has more than 25 years of regulatory and deathcare experience.
