Rosalia Lombardo and Her Master Embalmer

Two-year-old Rosalia Lombardo died of pneumonia in 1920 in Palermo, Italy, and her body was embalmed by Alfredo Salafia, who was well versed in embalming at the time and achieved excellent results in the preservation of human remains. As evidence, Lombardo's body remains in excellent shape today. A look at the work of Salafia, master embalmer, by a Sicilian native who spends his days researching mummies and their treasures.
