Green Graves Give Back to Nature

Eco-friendly funerals break new ground

Written by Francesca Lyman

For some there is nothing more ghastly than the idea of having their mortal remains embalmed, sealed in a metal and plastic casket and buried in a cement vault. They would prefer to be buried “au naturel.” Some companies are now thinking outside of the box and offering Earth-friendly burials amid the earth, trees and sea. Green Graves Give Back to Nature, written by Francesca Lyman, discusses how some people are foregoing the traditional ways of disposition and choosing a more eco-friendly route. Lyman is an environmental and travel journalist and author of Inside the Dzanga-Sangha Rain Forest.
