NFDA meet with state FDA representatives to formulate response to rule review
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is reviewing its Funeral Rule, which regulates price disclosure and the sale of funeral goods and services, and asked the public to submit comments on the issue. As a result, NFDA held a meeting with representatives of 33 state funeral service associations at the O'Hare Holiday Inn in Chicago, IL, on June 3, 1999, to discuss what NFDA's response should be to the FTC's call for comment.
Funeral Rule Summit—NFDA meets with state FDA representatives to formulate response to rule review, written by Kelly Smith, NFDA's public relations manager, discusses the highlights of the meeting and what the attendees agreed should be NFDA priorities during the FTC's review. Attendees also helped NFDA shape its response to 30 questions posed by the FTC when they announced the rule review on April 30, 1999. NFDA will submit its response to the FTC by the public-comment deadline of August 11, 1999.
In addition to this article, the July 1999 issue of The Director features a reprint of a news release announcing the start of the review & the FTC's official request for public comments published in the Federal Register. The deadline for responses is August 11, 1999.
