“Unified by our calling ,strengthened by our calling" was my motto two years ago when I ran for this office and continues to be my mission to grow NFDA and be responsive to you. As a profession, association, and community I believe we are called to be the voice of the profession, we need all of our colleagues to join to our united mission in legislation and community to be the point in the funeral business. NFDA's growth model should include those from other countries who look up to NFDA for leadership and guidance in the cutting edge of research and insight into consumer preferences. My background comes from serving a diverse clientele that represents the vast culture of America. I embrace the varying consumer changes in our profession and hope to change the paradigm..." We have always done it this way". My skills in board service and selection of executives in non-profit boards give me a unique and strong position to lead. In addition I am a big advocate for the Carver model of leadership for non-profit associations which give the board more value in leading policy rather that managing the association which is the responsibility of the executive. Our new funeral directors are coming from many diverse backgrounds and can offer many insights into growing the association; I am inspired to grow inspire passion in the field with new ideas, research and diversity in leadership. I thank you for your vote for the future of this association.
I am a first generation funeral director and an active member of NFDA, NFDMA, and other funeral related organizations. My experience is vast with board experience and recruitment and retention of members. NFDA need to grow to become an effective force in the industry; diversity in numbers representation and excitement of membership is my goal with the board of directors. NFDA's growth is coming from non-traditional sources and international membership that should be retained and nurtured by the membership.
We have competition for dues dollars and no one should say NFDA is second to any association. We need symbiotic relationships with our states, other ancillary organizations, international groups who look for our leadership and grow them as well. We cannot stand as not only as one of the oldest associations, we must strive to excite membership With innovation, and recruitment of new members from all areas; we just cannot stand on our laurels as the oldest and best when the consumer is telling us differently! NFDA has the greatest staff and resources for being the leaders and best…. Let us together continue that journey to that end!
